Police have rescued a teenage schoolgirl from Netrokona after 57 days of her abduction from Gazipur district.
A man was arrested for his alleged involvement with the abduction incident.
The arrestee is Selim Mia, 22, son of Alam Fakir of Mona village under Sadar upazila of Netrokona district.
The detainee lived in the house of the abductee as a rental and worked at a factory in the area.
Sub-Inspector of Vogra police outpost under Joydebpur police station Mobarak Hossain said: “On August 18, the victim was returning from Chandana High School in Gazipur city. Selim along with five or six others forcibly picked her up into a microbus.”
The victim’s mother filed a case with Joydepur police station in this connection, he added.
Acting on a tip-off police raided the house of Selim at Netrokona on Tuesday night and rescued the girl.
They also detained Selim from the spot, the official said.
