A gang or marauding bandits attacked three houses and looted Tk30 lakh cash, 135 grams of gold jewellery and other valuables in Doyarbazar area of Sylhet’s Companyganj on Friday night.
Such daring robbery incident right before Eid-ul-Azha has caused much terror among the locals.
Locals said the robbers came to the area on three boats using the Dholai River.
After anchoring the boats, the robbers first attacked Aziruddin’s home. They broke the doors, entered the house, and looted Tk 17 lakh cash along with the gold jewellery.
Done with their first house, the bandits moved to the adjacent house and looted another Tk17 lakh cash.
Their third plunder took place at Asad Telecom shop, where they grabbed Tk2 lakh and 20-25 mobile phones.
Learning about the incident, police forces led by Companyganj police station Officer-in-Charge Delwar Hossain visited the location in the morning.
The OC said he learned about Tk24 lakh being looted. Police are investigating the incident.
