RAB 7 in separate drives from Thursday to yesterday nabbed four people with 1,43,000 Yaba tablets worth Tk5.74 crore in Chittagong city.

The arrestees were Syed Kashem, 33, of Teknaf, Samrat Sardar, 23, of Srinagar in Munshiganj, and Rabiul Patwary, 22, of Monohorgonj in Comilla, and Aiyub, 26, of Ukhia.

RAB 7 Assistant Director (media) Sohel Mahmud said they first held Kashem, who used to collect Yaba pills from Teknaf, with 10,000 pills and a motorcycle.

Based on Kashem's information, RAB seized 1,20,000 Yaba pills from a residence in Hillview residential area, and detained Samrat and Rabiul with another 10,000 pills from a residence in Fakirhat, he said.

“Kashem and his accomplice Amin, who is now on the run, used to peddle Yaba tablets in different parts of the country. They would rent residential flats for storing the pills and would also move to new flats at regular intervals,” he added.

Aiyub was arrested in a tea stall in Chandgaon with 3,000 Yaba pills on Thursday around 9:30pm.

RAB 7 this year has seized a total 2,86,676 Yaba pills from areas under its jurisdiction, Sohel said.
