A class one girl has been raped by a youth at Dighapatia-Collegepara village of Sadar upazila in the district.
The victim was identified as Sumi, 8, a class one student of Dighapatia Primary School, also daughter of physically challenged Shyamol Kumar of the village.
Shyamol said his daughter Sumi was going to school early Wednesday while a neighbouring youth Suzon, 18, son of Belal Hossain called on her at his residence and raped her in his room.
Hearing the matter, he along with his wife attempted to go to Sadar police station to lodge a case but two locally influential men Maksed and Alal created a barricade saying they would soon make the negotiation of the matter locally.
Seeing no attempt was made even after 24 hours, he again attempted to lodge a case but the influential men made threats to him saying that if he files the case, he might have to go away from the locality with his family members.
When contacted, Faridul Islam, officer-in-charge of Sadar police station said no allegation was submitted in this connection.
If any allegation was found, necessary steps would be taken according to the law.
