Schoolboy stabbed to death in capital

A 14-year-old school boy was stabbed to death by unidentified assailants in the capital Mirpur area yesterday night.

The victim was identified as Mohammad Imon Sarker, a student of Class VII of Mirpur Adarsha High School, son of Nazrul Sarker and a resident of Section 6 of the capital's Mirpur.

Quoting witnesses, Nazrul told the Dhaka Tribune that Imon went out of the house at around 8:30pm saying he had some work to do.

“When he went out, two other youths stabbed Imon in the chest with sharp knives and fled. We rushed him to Dhaka Medical College Hospital where doctors declared him dead at around 10:00pm,” he added.

When asked over a probable cause for the murder, he suspected that the killing was centred over Imon's friendship with a girl.

Contacted, Salahuddin Ahmed, officer-in-charge of Mirpur model police station, said police was  investigating the case.

No case was filed and no one was arrested in this regard until filing report.
