Arrested militant shot dead in 'gunfight'

“Fahim died during a shootout with policemen early Saturday while conducting a drive along with him in Miarchar area at Bahadurpur Union of the district," said Sarwar Hossain, Madaripur superintendent of police. Police took the body to Madaripur Sadar Hospital, said the SP. Fahim was caught red handed by the locals while fleeing with his cohorts after hacking Mathematics lecturer Ripan Chakrabarty at Government Nazimuddin College in the district town on June 15. On Friday, he was put on a 10-day remand in connection with the attempted murder case.
