Miya Bahini’s Chief was arrested in a raid by police around 12pm yesterday at Charbata Union under Subornopur Upazilla in Noakhali.
The arreste Mia Sikdar, 38, is the son of late Abdul Munaf from East Charbata Union.
Miya was a former commander of Bashar Bahini, which he leads now. Moreover, he is one of the assistants of Jahangir Bahini in Ramgati, Jasu Bahini in Urir char and Sandip Bahini.
He became dominant in the area after Bashar Bahini’s chief Bashar was killed in a gun battle. Recently he surrendered to court due to pressure from authorities, but became active again after being released on bail.
There are several cases filed against him with different police stations.
Charjabbar police station’s Officer-in-Charge AKM Enamul Kabir confirmed the arrest to the Dhaka Tribune.
“He used to be a pirate, but now he has given up robbery and at present there is no cases filed against him with Charjabbar police station,” said Enamul Kabir.
“Terrorist Miya was arrested on secret information. Several cases have been filed against him in other police stations including Hatia police station,” he added.
Hatia police station’s Officer-in-Charge Syed Fazle Rabbi said, “There are two cases of robbery and killing after abduction filed against him. He absconded after a warrant was issued against him in the murder case.”
