Harasser gets one year jail in Chittagong

A mobile court of Chittagong district administration has sentenced a stalker with one year behind bars in charge of harassing a school girl near Kotwali area of the port city on Wednesday afternoon.

Executive Magistrate and Assistant Commissioner Ruhul Amin of Chittagong district administration handed down the order against Sujon Dhar, 22, employee of a jewelry factory in Hazari Goli of Potiya upazila.

Sujon was arrested from the city’s Amtol area around 11:30am, Inspector (Investigation) Nezam Uddin of Kotwali police station told the Dhaka Tribune.

Convict Sujon had been teasing the girl, a class VII student, in Aporna Charan City Corporation Girls High School area for the last 15-20 days when she would return home, the police official said.

The guardians of the victim and locals placed complaints with Kotwali police station as Sujon repeatedly harassed her despite her refusal.

Following the complaints, the mobile court conducted a special drive and sentenced the stalker, the inspector added.
