Pinak 6 owner, son on 4-day remand

A Munshiganj court has granted a four-day remand each against Pinak 6 owner and his son in a murder case filed over Munshiganj lunch capsize.

Munshiganj Judicial Magistrate Harun-or-Rashid passed the order when police produced them before the court with a seven-day remand plea for each of them on Monday morning.

The defence lawyer had also filed bail petition for Pinak 6 owner Abu Bakar Siddique and his son Omar Faruque Limon, but the court passed the order, rejecting the bail petition.

Investigation Officer and also Lohajang police station Sub-Inspector Julhash said: “They will now be taken to the police station.”

In separate drives, Rapid Action Battalion member had earlier arrested Abu Bakar Siddique and his son Omar Faruque Limon .

Following the capsize, Mawa transport inspector Jahangir filed a murder case with Louhajang police station against six people, including Pinak 6 owner AB Siddique and his son Omar.

With more than 250 passengers, the double-decker vessel which was on way to Mawa from Kewrakandi sank in the Padma River around 11am on August 4 due to strong current and high winds.
