Members of Airport Armed Police Battalion (APBn) have arrested five Malaysia-bound Bangladeshi passengers with foreign currencies worth about Tk86 lakh at Hazrat Shahjalal International Airport early Sunday.
Acting on a tip-off, police arrested them from the boarding bridge area with currencies of different countries, said APBn Assistant Superintendent of Police (ASP) Asma Ara Jahan, reports BSS.
The arrestees were identified as Maksudur Rahman, 38, Rajan Sikder, 40 Sumon Sikder, 40 SM Rafiqul Islam, 40, and M Badal Khan, 44.
APBn members recovered the currencies of different countries, including US dollars, Malaysian Ringgits, Saudi and Qatari Riyals and United Arab Emirates Dirham worth of Tk86,42,530, at around 12.50am, said Asma.
A case was filed with airport police station in this regard, she added.
