4 bodies recovered in Savar in one day

The bodies were recovered from Hemayetpur, Bhakurta, Birolia and Savar health complex on Sunday. Of them, two were identified as night guard Helal Uddin, 60, of Hemayetpur area, and Shirin Akter, 20, from Birolia area. Police and locals said a gang of miscreants electrocuted Helal, night guard of a rickshaw garage, to death. In Birolia, locals spotted Shirin's hanging body in the morning and informed police. In Bhakurta, villagers informed police after finding the throat-slit body of a youth, aged 24, in Shasmami area. On the other hand, some unknown individuals brought in a woman, aged around 50, to Savar Upazila Health Complex in a critical condition and fled when the on-duty doctors declared her dead. There were several injury marks on her body. Police suspect that she may have been tortured to death. Senior Assistant Superintendent of Police Mahbubur Rahman of Savar model police station confirmed the incident to the Dhaka Tribune. “The bodies have been sent to Dhaka Medical College morgue for autopsies. Separate cases in this regard have been registered here,” he said.
