TK1.33 crore mugged in Gazipur

Miscreants have snatched away Tk1.33 crore from a garment factory Knit Fashion wear Limited of Kaliakair upazila of Gazipur in Board Mill area on Monday afternoon.

 

Assistant Manager of Human Resources and Administration Department of the Factory Rabiul Islam Bakaul told the Dhaka Tribine.

 

Witnesses said a 6-member gang riding on three motorcycles has snatched the money on gun-point.

While leaving the scene, the miscreants shot blank fire in order to create panic in the area.

 

The garments officials said the money was being carried to pay the salary of the workers, which were scheduled to be disbursed on Tuesday.

 

 

Rabiul said the incident took place when three factory officials including a Chinese official started for the factory at Board Mill area taking the money from the head office of the factory in Jamgara in Ashulia.

Witnesses said, when they microbus came to East Chandra area, the gang stopped the microbus.

 

The snatchers pointed a pistol on the microbus driver, and take away the boxes of money, fired at least 6 rounds while leaving the area. Spreading panic, they fled through Fulbaria.

Kaliakair police sub-inspector (SI) Atikur Rahman said district police officers later visited the scene.

 

He said case will be filed upon allegation from the factory authorities, adding police were searching vehicles in different roads in Gazipur.
