Miscreants stab shop staff, snatch Tk60,000

A gang of criminals stabbed an employee of a plastic shop and snatched Tk60,000 away from him in capital’s Chawkbazar on Sunday night.

Identified as Md Mahbubur Rahman, 27, the employee of Azad Plastic Traders at Islambagh, was rushed to the Dhaka Medical College and Hospital (DMCH).

Victim Mahbubur Rahman said the gang comprising of five to six criminals intercepted him in front of Islambagh Comunity Centre around 8pm and snatched away the amount from him.

He said as he had tried to resist the criminals, but they stabbed him and beat him up with sticks.

Abul Kalam Azad, the owner of the business organisation, said the incident took place while his employee had been on his way to disburse the amount among some of the businessmen to whom he had lent the amount.

Contacted, Sub-inspector Ashraful Islam of Chawkbazar police station said they heard of the incident and forces were sent to the spot and the DMCH for collecting details.

“We are trying to find the criminals and arrest them”, he said.
