A Bangladeshi national has been arrested at a terminal of Agartala airport in India with gold bars weighing 1.2kg.
Shah Alam of Brahmanbaria in Bangladesh was arrested yesterday when travelling from the airport to Kolkata by a Spicejet flight.
“Members of Central Industrial Security Force discovered a metal-cutter inside his luggage. Later, they opened up the luggage and found the gold bars worth over Tk43 lakh,” a police source said.
Shah Alam was later handed over to the airport police station. Police said he was complicit in inter-state gold smuggling.
