Detectives analysing samples, call lists

The CID’s Forensic Department is analysing the evidence collected from the house and vehicles of Nur Hossain, the prime accused in seven murders in Narayanganj.

The Crime Scene Unit of the CID collected the samples and dry blood from the microbus and private car seized from Nur’s house and a factory owned by a relative of lawmaker Shamim Osman. A red T-shirt and towel were found inside the seized Hi-ace microbus of Nur.

An official of the Crime Scene Unit told the Dhaka Tribune on request of anonymity that they had collected blood-stained samples from Nur’s garage and the private car’s seats, glass and driving wheel.

“From the blood sample we have collected fingerprints which will help us to trace the criminals easily,” he said. DNA samples were also collected from the members of the deceased families.

If the samples match with a human being through the DNA tests, it would be a breakthrough to unearth the mystery of the case, the official added.

Jahangir Alam, assistant police super of the Crime Scene Unit, told the Dhaka Tribune: “At present, we are waiting for the blood test reports. The investigation officers are analysing the other samples.”

He said steps must be taken to arrest the real criminals involved with the killings after getting the DNA test results.

Apart from analysing the samples, the investigators are also trying to collect information from the mobile phone records of deceased panel mayor Nazrul Islam and prime accused Nur.

According to investigators, the six mobile phones of the victims had been switched off by the abductors soon after the incident, Fazlul Haque, investigating officer of the case, said.
