A man, who sustained injuries in an attack by his son, succumbed to his injuries at a private clinic in Jessore on Wednesday evening.
The deceased was identified as Bisharat Ali, 52, son of late Afzal Ali of village Bedbaria under Moheshpur upazila in Jhenaidah.
Moheshpur police station Officer-in-Charge M Shahjahan Ali said: “Bisharat locked in an altercation with his son Ahsanur over the payment of electricity bill on Tuesday afternoon.”
“At a stage of the quarrel, Ahsanur stabbed his father in the abdomen with a screw driver, leaving him injured,” he said.
Later, Bisharat was rushed to a private clinic in Jessore where he succumbed to his injuries around 7pm on Wednesday.
The OC said the body was sent to Jhenaidah sadar morgue for post mortem.
The killer son managed to flee, OC said.
A murder case was filed with Moheshpur police station in connection with the incident.
