A helper of a truck has been injured in police firing at Rajganj under Monirampur upazila in the district early Tuesday.
The injured helper, Manu Mia, has claimed to be a member of an inter-district robbers’ gang.
Moniruzzaman of Detective Branch of police said: “Manu Mia was arrested by the DB police with the help of Monirampur police on Monday afternoon. He is a notorious robber”.
However, he denied making any comment on the incident of firing.
Mizanur Rahman Khan, officer in-charge, Monirampur police station, said: “Manu received bullet wound in one of his legs during a gunfight between the accomplices of Manu and the police while he was taken to Rajgonj to recover arms”.
Manu was undergoing treatment at Jessore Medical College Hospital under police cordon, he added.
Manu claimed that he was not involved in any types of criminal activities.
