Another illegal factory, which was manufacturing fake ICDDRB saline, has been busted in the capital’s North Badda on Monday afternoon.
A mobile court led by executive magistrate AHM Anwar Pasha has sealed-off the factory and sentenced five persons, including the factory owner, to jails in different terms alongside fines with different amounts.
This is the second illegal saline factory that has been busted. On March 20, the law enforcers have sealed-off another illegal factory at the capital’s Babubazar.
The mobile court accompanied by the personnel from Rapid Action Battalion and Drugs Administrations launched the drive at the factory housed in a tin-shed house at Abdullahbagh of Satarkul in North Badda at around 11am.
During the three-hour long drive, they have seized over 20000 packets of fake saline, which were below standard in quality as well as threats for public heaths, Pasha told the Dhaka Tribune.
Among the convicts, factory owner Md Abdul Siddiq, 35, who is a former employee of the ICDDRB, was sentenced to jail for two years alongside Tk100000 as fine. In case of not paying the fine, he has to serve in jail for three more months.
His brother, Nabin Khan, who had been the in-charge of the factory, was jailed for one year alongside Tk100000 as fine. He also has to serve in jail for three months, if fails to pay the fine.
Besides, three employees—Kabir Hossain, Md Swapan and Masud Akand—were fined Tk10000 each and in default they have to serve in jail for one month.
