Milon murder: Convict gets 10 years

A Dhaka court has awarded a person to 10 years rigorous imprisonment in Milon murder case.

The court also fined Tk50, 000 to convict Hafizur Rahaman Khan. He has to serve two years more in jail on default.

Dhaka Special Tribunal 1 Judge Sajedur Rahaman Khan pronounced the verdict on Monday afternoon.

Special Public Prosecutor Advocate Md Mahbubur Rahaman and defense lawyer Advocate T M Akbar were present in the court during the verdict. 

According to the case statement, Mozammel Hossain Milon, the victim, tried to save his sister when she was attacked by her husband Hafizur Rahman Khan at the latter’s Shantibagh residence on May 30, 2012.

At one stage, Hafizur shot Milon to death.

Later, Khaleda Akhter Baby, sister of Milon lodged a murder case with Shahjahanpur police station accusing Hafizur.

On 21 July 2012, Investigation Officer (DB) Tofael Ahmed placed charge sheet in the murder case.
