Masked, armed robbers looted gold jewelleries and cash money from the house of an RMG businessman at the capital’s Khilkhet area early yesterday. The businessman as well as two others in his family were also injured during the robbery.
The businessman Imdadul Huq, 48, his elder brother Nazir Uddin, 65, and nephew Abul Bashar Palash, 35 were admitted to Dhaka Medical College and Hospital.
Imdadul’s condition was stated to be critical as he had sustained indiscriminate stab wounds at different parts of his body. His brother and nephew, who also received stab wounds, were given primary treatment.
Nazir said a gang of 10 to 12 robbers broke into the tin-shed house by cutting the locks on the collapsible gate around 1:30am.
“The robbers held the family members hostage at gun point and took Tk90,000 in cash and 10 tolas of gold,” he said, “When Imdadul caught one of the robbers and cried for help, we went to help.
“But the rest of them came at us and stabbed us to free their partner,” he added.
Inspector Nazrul Islam, officer in-charge of Khilkhet police station, said Palash had filed a case against the unidentified robbers.
“We are trying to arrest the robbers and recover the looted valuables,” the OC said.
