Law enforcers have recovered rice worth Tk11 lakh from Singra upazila, Natore in the early hours of Wednesday that was hijacked two days ago.
The recovery of 15 tonnes of rice was made in a raid, acting upon a tip-off from the storage house of one Ronju in Borogram area of Dahia union, police said.
On Monday, miscreants hijacked a rice-laden truck bound for Dhaka from Chapainawabganj in Sirajganj, Singra police Officer-in-Charge Shafiqul Islam said.
The driver and the helper were left tied up in Bagha area, Rajshahi, he added. The rice was stored in Ronju's storage after the truck broke down in Ranihaat.
“We recovered 15 tonnes of rice, worth Tk11 lakh, from the storage facility in a raid. Owner of the storage house, Ronju, is currently on the run,” he said.
No one could be detained in connection to this incident.
Owner of the rice Shafiqul Islam had arrived at Singra police station and was preparing to file a case over this incident since last reported in the morning.
