A member of United People’s Democratic Front (UPDF) has been shot dead in a gun attack in Babuichhari area under Dighinala upazila in Khagrachhari.
The deceased was identified as Sudrishti Chakma, 35.
Another person was also injured in the incident.
Witnesses said four masked assailants shot Sudrishti while he was standing in front of a roadside shop in around 8am, killing him on the spot.
Meanwhile, Hridi Chakma, 27, was also injured in the incident.
On information, police recovered the body and sent it to Khagrachhari Sadar Hospital for post-mortem examination report. Hridi was also rushed to the hospital.
Khagrachhari police station Officer-in-Charge Shahadat Hossain confirmed the incident.
UPDF blamed the activists of Santu Larma-led Parbatya Chattagram Janasanghati Samity (PCJSS) for the attack.
