Md Abu Sayeed Khandaker, Tarash Union Parishad chairman of Sirajganj was sent to jail on Wednesday following a case of misappropriated VGD-rice.
Senior judicial magistrate Supriya Rahman of Sirajganj Judicial Magistrate Court sent him to jail after he surrendered to the court.
However, police arrested Abu Sayeed while he was trying to sell 20 bags of VGD rice in black market on August 8, 2013.
Md Tofael Hossain, the Tarash upazila Project Implementation Officer (PIO), later lodged a case against Sayeed at Tarash police station.
