Admission seeker mugged at JU

Three students of Jahangirnagar University mugged an admission seeker on the campus yesterday.

Students and JU unit Chhatra League activists caught the three students and handed them over to the proctorial body.

Confirming the matter, JU Proctor Prof Md Mujibur Rahman said the incident took place around 1:30pm when some students of Bangabandhu Sheikh Muzibur Rahman Hall took one applicant, Shyamol Biswas, at a corner of the central field and snatched away his moneybag.

A meeting of the disciplinary committee had been called to decide on actions to be taken  in this regard, he said.

Shyamol Biswas and other admission seekers informed the matter to the volunteers of Chhatra League who were engaged in assisting admission seekers. 

The three alleged are Shaurabh Rahman, final year student of botany department, Atikur Rahman, second year student of statistics department and Yasin Ahmed, first year student of the geography department.

Earlier two youths were held on Sunday from the Dairy Gate of the university for collecting toll from passenger busses and admission seekers on the Dhaka-Aricha Highway.
