Three of a family among four killed in Gazipur road accident

Four people, including three people of a family, were killed and three others injured as a CNG-run auto rickshaw collided head on with a human haulier at Jamirarchar in Kapasia upazila.

Three of the deceased were identified as Parvin Akther, 35, wife of Rafiqul Islam of Hazi Kha village in Narsingdi, her son auto rickshaw driver Faruq, 25, and one of their relatives Jasimuddin, 30, while identity of a mentally retarded person could not be known immediately.

Quoting witnesses, police said the Gazipur-bound human haulier from Kapasia crashed into the auto rickshaw while trying to give side to a mentally retarded person at about 10pm on Thursday, leaving seven people critically injured.

The injured were taken to upazila health complex where doctors declared Jashim and the mentally retarded person dead on the spot, said Sub-Inspector of Kapasia police station Nazmul Huda.

Two other injured people succumbed to their injuries at Narsingdi Hospital yesterday afternoon.

The other injured – Khokon Mia, his wife Farida Parveen, 35, and their daughter Merry, 2, were taken to Dhaka Medical College Hospital.
