A youth was reportedly shot dead by unknown criminals while he was asleep in his bedroom in the capital’s Sher-e-Banglanagar on Tuesday morning.
Identified as Sazza Hossain Swapan, the 25-year-old youth was a resident of an abandoned building of the Heart Institute. He was the son of Sultan Miah of Sonargaon in Narayanganj.
The family members of the victim said unknown criminals shot the youth dead in his bedroom at around 8:30am Tuesday while he was sleeping.
Swapan had enmity with another youth named Onik, who might have killed him, they suspected.
Sub-inspector Shamsur Rahman of Sher-e-Banglanagar police station said the youth was shot at his head and died on the spot.
“On information, police recovered the body of the youth and sent it to the morgue of the Dhaka Medical College Hospital for autopsy,” the SI said.
A case is underway in this connection, he added.
He also said police were trying to identify the killers of Swapan and arrest them.
Asked, SI Shamsur Rahman, however, could not confirm whether the killing was following an earlier feud with anybody or the deceased had any criminal record.
