Three Rajshahi University admission seekers were arrested by police for forging in the tests yesterday, the second day of the five-day long admission tests.
The university authorities also expelled two others for the same offence and one was expelled for misbehaving with duty teachers.
The arrested were identified as Tarikul Islam, Asadur Rahman Bappy and Bayazid Hossain. Tarikul and Bappy were both first year Psychology students of Government Azizul Haque College in Bogra.
The students expelled were Bayazid Ahmed, Nurjahan and Iftiaz Hossain.
According to the university’s Proctor Prof Tariqul Hasan, a total of five students, including the three arrested, were caught using a cell phone to receive answers through text messages during the tests. An on-duty teacher had caught Tarikul and Bappy from room No 120 of Ismail Hossain Siraji arts building of the university during the first shift admission test of ‘E’ unit in the morning.
Bayazid was caught from the university’s Shahidullah arts building during the test of ‘D’ unit in the afternoon and Nurjahan was caught during the second shit test of the same unit in the evening.
Details about Bayazid Ahmed could not be collected.
Later, the university authorities handed over Tarikul Islam, Asadur Rahman Bappy and Bayazid Hossain to the Motihar police.
Motihar police Officer-in-Charge GM Shamsun Nur confirmed the arrests and said the students would be taken to court after investigation.
University authorities said Nurjahan and Bayazid Ahmed were expelled for their deeds and Iftiaz Hossain was expelled for misbehaving with duty teachers.
