Awami League activist shot dead in Chittagong

An activist of ruling party Awami League has been shot dead at the Satkania upazila. The victim, 45-year-old Jahirul Hasan, a resident of the upazila's Kanchana Union, was a small-time activist of the ruling party, police said. According to police and his family, masked assailants shot Jahirul in the back when he was entering his house around 8:30pm on Saturday. Jahirul's wife told police that she had seen two men fleeing the scene after gunshots. Satkania police station OC Farid Uddin said Jahirul also used to work as their informer. “We are investigating the matter and trying to arrest the killers,” he added.
