A college girl was rescued from the city’s Rayerbag area on Monday three months after her abduction from Mandari Bazaar of Lakshmipur sadar upazila. Police arrested two persons in this connection.
The arrestees were Sohag, 25, and his father Abdur Rab, 50, of Somaspur village under Lakshmipur sadar upazila.
Acting on a tip-off, police conducted a drive at the house of Sohag at Kadamtali in the city on Monday afternoon and arrested him along with his father. Later, they were sent to Lakshmipur Sadar police station on Tuesday.
Sub-Inspector of Lakshmipur sadar police station Razib Sharma said Sohag had abducted the girl of the same locality from Mandari Bazaar on October 20, 2013.
Afterwards, father of victim lodged a case with Sadar police station on October 22 against five people under Women and Children Repression Prevention Act.
Officer-in-charge of Lakshmipur Sadar police station Md Iqbal Hossain said the arrestees would be produced before a court.
The victim was sent to Lakshimpur Sadar Hospital for medical test.
