Classmates kill boy for mobile phone

A college student was stabbed dead by his classmates over the posession of a mobile phone, in Jessore Sadar upazila on Sunday morning.

The deceased was one Shariful Islam, 20, son of Shafiuddin from New Town, a first year student of Jessore Education Board Model School and College.

Obaidur Rahman, a classmate of Shariful, alleged that two of their other classmates Arif and Nazmul had called Sharif to a non-specified location promising to return a mobile phone before stabbing Shariful upon his arrival.

Shariful was rushed to Jessore Medical College Hospital in a critical condition where doctors declared him dead, police said.

Principal of the institution, Professor Ranit Kumar, told journalists that the victim was killed following a disagreement over the posession of a mobile phone.

Jessore Sadar Police Station Officer-in-Charge Emdadul Haque Sheikh endorsed the incident.
