Youth killed in Rajshahi

A youth was allegedly stabbed and beaten to death by his friends in Rajshahi’s bypass area early  on Tuesday.

The deceased was identified as Ariful Islam, 28, son of Saidur Rahman, of Raipara village under Rajpara police station.

Witnesses said locals rescued Ariful from the city’s bypass area early on Tuesday and admitted him to Rajshahi Medical College Hospital (RMCH) in critical condition.

He succumbed to his injuries around 12:15pm on Wednesday while undergoing treatment.

The on-duty doctors told the Dhaka Tribune that the hands and legs of the youth were broken when he was admitted at the hospital. Furthermore, a number of injury marks were noticed in his entire body.

Doctors suspected that he was stabbed by knives.

Quoting the family members, Rajpara police said two of Ariful's friends called him over the phone on Monday night and he went missing since then. Later, family members found his cell phone switched off.

Rajpara police station Officer-in-Charge ABM Rejaul Karim said: “Poilice held one of his friends Nasim in this connection. However, the reason behind the murder is yet to be known." 

"Investigation is underway,” he added.

A murder case has been filed with Rajpara police station in this connection.
