Detective Branch (DB) of Police have disclosed the arrest of three Chhatra Dal activists in the arson attacks in capital’s Banglamotor and Paribagh that left three persons dead.
“All the three youths were arrested near Sonargaon intersection on January 6 while they had been had been hurling bombs”, said DMP Joint Commissioner Monirul Islam, also the spokesman to the DMP.
According to the DB officials, the detainees include a joint convener of the capital’s Mohammadpur thana unit of Jatiyatabadi Chhatra Dal (JCD) and its two other JCD activists.
The detainees were identified as Rabiul Islam Nayan, 26, JCD joint convener of Mohammadpur thana unit, JCD activists Anupam Chandra Roy, 24, and Jobayer Hossain, 22.
The DMP joint commissioner also claimed during the primary interrogation after their arrest, they also admitted their involvements in the attacks with petrol bombs at a police carrying bus at Banglamotor intersection on December 24 and another passenger bus on January 3 at Paribagh.
Joint Commissioner Monirul said under the planning of a central JCD leader, Nayan had hurled the petrol bombs and Anup had been driving a motorcycle carrying them.
“Jobayer took part in the attacks after he had been assured of getting a post in the city unit of JCD while Anupam for being a leader of privet university unit JCD”, said Monirul Islam adding that they had also been given cash money.
“A former BNP lawmaker had supplied the money, his brother and a central JCD leader also had remained present in the areas for the purposes of monitoring the attacks”, said DC Masudur Rahman.
