2 ruling party members stabbed to death

Suspected Jamaat-Shibir activists stabbed a local Awami League leader and a Jubo Leage activist to death in Kolaroa upazila in Satkhira district at midnight on Thursday and early Friday, following the execution of war crimes convict Quader Molla.

The deceased were identified as Azizur Rahman Aju, 53, former president of Awami League Kolaroa municipality ward no. 6 unit and Joj Miah, a Jubo League activist of Saraskati village.

Shah Dara Khan, officer-in-charge (OC) of Kolaroa police station, told the Dhaka Tribune: “Some unidentified miscreants launched an attack on Azizur’s house around 12am. They vandalised the house and stabbed him indiscriminately, leaving him dead on the spot.

Police is suspecting that the killers are Jamaat-Shibir members,” he added.

On the other hand, Joj Miash was stabbed to death after some Jamaat-Shibir men picked him up from his house at Saraskati village around 2am.

Shah Dara said: “The investigation is underway and the police is trying to catch the killers.”
