2 BNP supporters arrested for Shahbagh arson

Detectives arrested two BNP supporters over the arson on a bus at Shahbagh in capital which caused death of three among its 19 burn victims.

Dhaka Metropolitan Police spokesperson Masudur Rahman made the revelation at a press conference on Saturday noon.

“They have been arrested for their involvement in the arson,” he said.

The arestees were Mohammad Uzzal Hossain, 36, Dhaka ward 70 Jatiyatabadi Chhatra Dal president and Sohel Chan, alias Milon, 28, a Chhatral Dal activist,

Both were detained in raids through capital on Friday night. Uzzal was arrested from Shantinagar while Milon was held from Bangshal area.

Miscreants hurled a petrol-bomb at a running passenger bus on November 28 during a blockade programme of the BNP-led 18-party alliance.

Nineteen people, including a journalist and a lawyer, were burned. One succumbed that very night while two others died later.
