Police filed a case against 26 opposition activists, including former Mayor Sadeque Hossain Khoka, for arson attack on a human hauler.
Sub Inspector Nayan Karpur filed the case with Sutrapur Police Station on Tuesday, the station's Officer-in-Charge Rafiqul Islam said.
The arson case accused 10 named activists and up to 16 anonymous others, he said.
Among others named in the case were: BNP Student Affiars Secretary Shahiduddin Chowdhury Annie, Jatiyatabadi Chhatra Dal President Abdul Kader Bhuiyan Julel, General Secretary Hahibur Rashid and Juba Dal leaders Ishaque Sarkar, Kazi Abdul Bashar and Sayeed Minto.

On Sunday, eight people received burn injuries after shutdown supporters set fire to a human hauler in the capital's Lakshmibazar area.
All the injured were taken to Dhaka Medical College Hospital. One Montu Paul was 90% burned, doctors said.
BNP's Dhaka metropolitan unit convenor and Vice President Khoka had called party supporters to form an armed resistance against “the attack of Awami League” last month.
Several ruling Awami League leaders complained that the statement was inflammatory.
