2 sisters among 5 held with yaba, heroin, firearm

Rapid Action Battalion (RAB-7) arrested five persons, including two siblings, with heroin, yaba, homemade liquor and a firearm from the port city’s railway station area and the district’s Sitakunda upazila in two separate drives on Monday night.
The arrestees were Mim Akhter, 21, and Taniya Akhter, 19, daughters of Naimul Ali of Chapainawabganj; Nizam Uddin, 49, Manjur Hossen, 27, and Eman Uddin, 26, according to RAB-7 sources.
Being tipped-off, a team of the law enforcers conducted a drive in the railway station area and arrested the two sisters along with 40,000 yaba pills, said Assistant Director Chandan Debnath of RAB-7’s media wing.
Later, the team raided a house of one Nizam Uddin in Enayet Bazar area of the city and arrested him along with 815 grams heroin.
Meanwhile, another team led by Assistant Superintendent of Police (ASP) Sohel Mahmud conducted a drive at an abandoned bungalow in Faradpur village of Sitakunda and arrested Manjur and Eman while they were preparing for a robbery, said Chandan.
The law enforcers recovered a shooter gun, one cartridge, sharp weapons and 10 litres of homemade liquor from the bungalow.
All the arrestees were handed over to Kotwali and Sitakunda police stations, said RAB-7.
