Teknaf soldier attack: Titas laid to rest in Faridpur

The body of army personnel Titas Sheikh, who was killed in a gun attack by hill-based criminals in Teknaf, Cox’s Bazar, was flown to his hometown in Nagarkanda, Faridpur, by an army helicopter on Friday.

The helicopter carrying his body landed at the Government Mahendra Narayan Academy ground in the upazila at around 4:45pm. The army later accorded him a guard of honour.

His body was then taken to the field of Atikur Rahman High School in his village, where his namaz-e-janaza was held after Maghrib prayers. He was later buried at the family graveyard.

Titas was critically injured on Thursday during a joint forces operation against a human trafficking gang in Teknaf when armed criminals opened fire from the hills. He later died while undergoing treatment at Ramu Combined Military Hospital.

His death plunged his family home in Laskardia village of Nagarkanda into mourning. His mother was left speechless by the loss of her son, while his wife and other relatives broke down in tears.
