Arman, known as a top gang leader in Dhaka’s Mohammadpur area, has been arrested by Special Response Battalion (SRB)-2. He is reportedly a key member of the Arman-Shahrukh gang.
Naymul Hasan, Additional DIG and Commander of SRB-2, confirmed the matter on Monday.
According to SRB sources, Arman is an accused in the recent killing of Patali group leader Forhad in Keraniganj, who was hacked and shot to death.
He is also an accused in the case filed over the killing of Alex Emon group leader Emon in Rayerbazar. Several other cases have also been filed against him with Mohammadpur Police Station.
SRB said, a machete allegedly used to hack Farhad to death, along with a foreign-made pistol and a magazine, was recovered from Arman during his arrest.
SRB will provide further details at a press briefing at its media centre in Karwan Bazar Monday afternoon.
