Police have arrested the alleged mastermind of an attack and vandalism at content creator Salman Muqtadir’s Brownfish Studio in ECB Chattar, Dhaka, bringing the total number of arrests to 4.
The arrested men are alleged mastermind Shahriar and Mamun, Aslam and Munna. Cantonment police station Officer-in-Charge Mohammad Gias Uddin confirmed the arrests.
Police said the attack followed a dispute between New Gini Properties Ltd, which owns the studio’s land, and other landowners in the area. Salman Muqtadir had rented a floor from New Gini Properties and established the studio there.
Mohammad Gias Uddin said New Gini Properties had built a gate on the land, preventing others from using the passage.
He said: “We have already arrested the mastermind. Our operation to arrest the others is ongoing.”
Salman Muqtadir alleged that a group of people arrived in 2 trucks late Saturday night and attacked and vandalized his studio.
At around 1:45am, he went live on the Brownfish Studio Facebook page and said the studio had been attacked shortly before and the entire studio had been destroyed.
Later, Salman alleged that the attackers’ main target may have been the owner of the building and that they may have demanded extortion money from him.
