Police have recovered the iPhone belonging to 13-year-old Ishiyat Shahriar Opratim’s mother from the home of Tuhin, who was detained in connection with the boy’s death in Comilla.
Mofiz Uddin Bhuiyan, in-charge of the Kotbari Police Outpost, confirmed the matter on Saturday night.
He said police recovered the iPhone during a raid at Tuhin’s house in the Sananda area of Lalmai Hill, near Comilla University.
Opratim, a seventh-grade student at Comilla Border Guard Public School, had been missing since Friday afternoon. His body was found in Sananda area around 1:00pm on Saturday.
His mother, Dr Nahida Begum, is an associate professor in the Department of Bangla at Comilla University. She lived in a rented house in the Kotbari-Gandhamati area.
Police have detained three people Tuhin, Anas and Fahim in connection with the death. All three are aged between 18 and 20.
Inspector Mofiz Uddin said the other two were detained in the evening based on information obtained from Tuhin during questioning. Tuhin was detained around 3:00pm on Saturday.
