BNP Standing Committee member and Home Minister Salahuddin Ahmed has said no criminal will remain at large within six months, as the government works to improve the country's law and order situation.
He made the remarks while speaking as the chief guest at a Milad and doa mahfil organised by the BNP in Nayapaltan on Wednesday afternoon to mark Eid-e-Miladunnabi.
“The Holy Prophet (PBUH) came to earth as a mercy to all humanity. It is our commitment to run the state according to his teachings. If his principles and ideals were followed in today's world, there would be no wars or unrest,” he said.
Speaking about the country's law and order situation, Salahuddin said: “No criminal will be found who has not been arrested by the police in the last six months. This is the achievement of the police. Their lost morale has already returned. Nothing more is possible in such a short time.”
“Meanwhile, those involved in all the sensational murders have been brought to justice. Nothing more is possible in such a short time. But I promise that the situation will be brought under control soon. Revolutionary changes cannot be brought about overnight. The government is working to make law enforcement agencies more people-friendly,” he added.
