CTTC arrests rape case fugitive after five years

The Counter Terrorism and Transnational Crime (CTTC) unit of the Dhaka Metropolitan Police (DMP) has arrested a fugitive accused in a rape case who had been evading arrest for five years during a special operation in the capital.

The arrestee was identified as Md Din Islam Mintu, 44.

Quoting the CTTC, DMP Assistant Deputy Commissioner (Media) Niaz Mehedi said a team from the CTTC's Research and Development (R&D) Division arrested Mintu during a raid in the Hotel Rajmoni area of Ramna on Wednesday night.

According to police, Mintu was a fugitive and a warrant-listed accused in a rape case filed with Banshal Police Station. He had remained absconding for the past five years to evade arrest.

Legal proceedings against the accused are underway, police said.
