Home Minister Salahuddin Ahmed on Sunday said the country's law and order situation remains fully under control, with the overall crime rate significantly lower than in previous months.
He also confirmed that no explosives were found in the abandoned bags recovered on Saturday.
The home minister made the remarks while speaking to reporters after the first-phase graduation parade of the 27th Bangladesh Civil Service (Police) batch at the Bangladesh Police Academy in Sardah, Rajshahi.
He said the abandoned bags had been thoroughly examined and no explosives were detected.
"Whenever abandoned bags or suspicious objects are found, law enforcement agencies follow the highest security protocols to examine them in the interest of public safety," he said.
Salahuddin Ahmed said separate investigations are underway into the pressure cooker recovered in Ashulia and the suspicious object found in Motijheel to determine whether there was any attempt at sabotage or who may have been behind the incidents.
Referring to crime statistics over the past five to six months, the minister said the incidence of crime and sabotage has declined considerably on a comparative basis.
"The situation is in no way alarming," he said, adding that bomb disposal units remain on 24-hour standby while law enforcement agencies are maintaining heightened vigilance to prevent any act of sabotage.
