A 60-year-old man was stabbed to death in Fatullah, Narayanganj, on Thursday afternoon.
The deceased, Nasir, son of late Saiz Uddin of the same area, was a cable TV businessman.
The incident occurred around 1pm at his office in the Chanmari Maurapatti area.
Fatullah Model Police Station Officer-in-Charge Mahbub Alam told Dhaka Tribune that the victim was taken to hospital after being stabbed, where he died from excessive bleeding.
According to local sources, Nasir was alone at his office when he suddenly screamed. Locals rushed to the spot and found him lying on the ground. He was taken to the 300-bed Khanpur Hospital in the city, where doctors declared him dead.
Police later recovered a blood-stained knife from the scene. The body was sent to Narayanganj General Hospital for autopsy.
Eyewitness and auto-rickshaw driver Alauddin said he saw a man wearing a black Panjabi running towards a microbus stand with a blood-stained knife in his hand at the time of the incident.
There were stab marks on the victim’s chest. A knife with a cover believed to have been used in the killing was recovered. Efforts are underway to identify those involved, and the motive will be known after investigation, said the OC.
