TikToker arrested for harassing foreign nationals in Natore

Police arrested a TikToker for allegedly harassing two foreign visitors at Green Valley Park in Lalpur, Natore, while another individual was detained for questioning over suspected involvement in the incident.

The arrests were made during raids carried out in different areas of Natore and Rajshahi on Sunday.

According to police and park authorities, more than a hundred young men and women gathered at the park on May 8 for an event titled “TikTok Bondhu Milon Mela-2026.”

Around 2:30pm, a group of youngsters allegedly blocked the path of two foreign employees working at the Rooppur Nuclear Power Plant while they were walking past the park’s “Sandhya Malati” picnic spot.

They reportedly made obscene remarks, harassed the foreign nationals, and recorded videos of the incident. Park Manager SM Wazedur Rahman and staff members intervened after being informed and brought the situation under control.

On Saturday, a video of the harassment circulated widely on Facebook, quickly going viral and drawing widespread criticism. Later that day, the park manager filed a case with Lalpur police station.

Following the case, police launched operations in several areas of Natore and Rajshahi on Sunday. During the raids, Md Aminul Islam, 29, son of Tamir Uddin from Haridagachhi Village in Mohanpur Upazila of Rajshahi, was arrested.

Police also detained Russel Islam, son of Ayen Uddin from Aradighi village in Tanore upazila, for questioning. Authorities said his involvement in the incident is being investigated.

Lalpur police station Officer-in-Charge Shafiqul Islam said operations are ongoing to identify and arrest the remaining suspects involved in the incident.

He added that police remain vigilant to protect the country’s image and ensure the safety of foreign nationals.
