Two students of Dhaka University were stabbed in the Teacher-Student Centre area on Thursday af-ternoon.
They are Niloy, a student of international relations department, and Sharif, of Sanskrit and Pali de-partment – both second year students. They were admitted to Dhaka Medical College Hospital.
Witnesses said Niloy had an altercation over a trivial issue on the university bus with Asif, from the soil science department, while travelling to university. Following the incident, Asif allegedly called some of his associates after getting down from the bus, and alleged to have stabbed Niloy in the TSC area around 1pm. Sharif was also stabbed when he tried to save Niloy.
Proctor Amzad Ali said Arif was permanently expelled from the university.
He suggested that the injured file formal allegations against the attackers with the police and the uni-versity authorities.
