Detective Branch of police arrested six alleged members of a robbers’ gang on Thursday night who had been raiding riverside shops and properties in the capital using a speed boat as getaway for the past five years.

Officials of DB police said the gang, led by Nurul, had been committing robbery since 2008. Police seized a number of local weapons while apprehending the suspects from Milbarak CSD dock at Gendaria. The gang members were reportedly preparing for a robbery.

The gang reportedly gathered information from their informants who kept an eye on traders using boats to carry goods and money between different areas of the city. The arrestees were accused in a number of cases while their leader was accused in two cases filed with Keraniganj and Madaripur police stations. He was arrested three times earlier but freed on bail.
