The Anti-Corruption Commission (ACC) will investigate allegations of embezzlement and misappropriation involving several thousand crores of money spent on unnecessary construction, renovation, and development projects for Bangabandhu sculptures, murals, and Mujib Killa across Bangladesh.

ACC’s Director General (Prevention), Md Akhter Hossain, shared this information at a briefing on Thursday.

He said: “A decision has been made to investigate allegations against the project directors, contractors, and others involved in the Mujib Killa construction, renovation, and development projects across the country.”

“These allegations include misappropriation of thousands of crores, inflated billing, and widespread irregularities, such as two-thirds of deep tube wells being non-functional. Investigation officers will be appointed soon, and the inquiry will commence promptly,” he added.
