The body of a college girl was recovered from a pond Wednesday at Uttar Dhandoba village under Barisal’s Gournadi upazila.
The victim was identified as Iti Roy, 22, the daughter of Narayan Roy and a degree student of Gournadi Government College.
Abul Kalam, the officer-in-charge at Gournadi police station, quoted family sources and said Iti went missing Wednesday morning after going for a bath in a pond. Her body floated up in the pond at 2pm, following which police recovered the body.
Family sources said Iti suffered from epilepsy. The body was sent to Barisal Sher-e-Bangla Medical College Hospital after an unnatural death case was lodged, said Sub-Inspector Alauddin of the police station.
