In separate incidents, police recovered the body of a garment worker and a restaurant trader from the city’s Chandana and Tongi area
Of the deceased the garment worker was identified as Abu Raihan,25, an employee of ‘Squire Fashion Garments’ in Gazipur and son of Abdul Mannach of Nashulla village of Mymensingh district. Raihan’s body was found early Wednesday.
The second body was identified as Saiful Islam, 30, owner of Tripti Hotel at Tongi and son of Hazi Abdul Malek of Noagoan area of Tongi. Saiful’s body was recovered Tuesday night.
Police and locals said Raihan’s body was spotted at Eidgah field of the area in the morning. After locals informed the police, law enforcers recovered the body which bore several injury marks.
They then sent the body to Gazipur Sadar Hospital morgue for post-mortem examination.
Police suspected that muggers might have killed him elsewhere on Tuesday night and dumped the body there.
Sub inspector Raziur Rahman of Tongi police station told Dhaka Tribune, local people informed police after they noticed blood draining from a big ‘briefcase’ left beside a road at Prottasha area of Tongi.
Upon reaching the site, police found the body of Saiful Islam after opening the big ‘briefcase’ in presence of local people. There were several injury marks on his body and head.
Police also found his cell phone and money bag in the briefcase.
The body was sent to Gazipur Sadar Hospital morgue for postmortem examination. Family member told the Dhaka Tribune, Saiful left his home on Tuesday afternoon and went missing. A case has been filed with Tongi police.
